SunEx Tech Asia has completed delivery and commissioning of a Zone 2 diesel generator package for an offshore oil & gas platform operator in Southeast Asia, supporting the facility’s emergency and backup power requirements in a classified hazardous area.
Project Scope
The scope covered a fully packaged Zone 2 explosion-proof diesel generator set, engineered to the platform’s specific gas group and temperature class requirements, complete with:
- ATEX Zone 2 certified genset controller with local and remote monitoring
- Flameproof (Ex d) enclosure rated for offshore marine conditions
- Ex-rated starting and charging system with anti-condensation heater
- Corrosion-resistant coating package suited to a marine/offshore environment
- Full ATEX and IECEx documentation, including Manufacturer’s Declaration of Conformity
Certification & Compliance
The generator package is certified under ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU and holds an IECEx Certificate of Conformity, with documentation prepared specifically to support the operator’s internal HSE audit process ahead of commissioning.
Delivery & Commissioning
SunEx’s engineering team managed the project from initial zone classification review through to on-site commissioning support, working within the platform’s existing operational and safety procedures throughout installation.
“Working through offshore logistics and safety procedures on an active platform is never simple, but the documentation was ready before we needed it and the unit performed exactly as specified from first start.” — Project Engineering Lead, offshore EPC contractor
This project reflects SunEx’s continued focus on supplying certified, application-engineered explosion-proof equipment to oil & gas and offshore operators across Singapore and the wider Southeast Asian region.
